Con Edison, one of the largest integrated utilities in the United States, needed to support a 6-year smart meter rollout while improving customer service and operational insight for more than four million customers. To do that, Con Edison worked with C3.ai to implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) operations on top of an enterprise data analytics platform, using the C3 AI Suite and C3.ai AMI Operations on AWS.

C3.ai helped Con Edison aggregate two years of data from 13 source systems across 5 million customer accounts and configure analytics to monitor meter deployment, installation issues, and network health. The solution delivered real-time visibility across the meter fleet, identified 2,300+ deployment issues in four months, and helped uncover an estimated $854M+ in annual customer benefit, while also enabling five external systems to access unified data.
