Inductosense Limited launches Zone 0 IoT data collector with Bytesnap Design for 5+ year battery life

Inductosense Limited, a UK-based designer of ultrasonic sensor technologies for the oil and gas industry, required a substantial upgrade to its WAND Remote Data Collector to meet stringent ATEX Zone 0 compliance for use in explosive environments. The challenge, addressed with vendor Bytesnap Design, involved overcoming significant technical hurdles in intrinsic safety PCB design, while also achieving major improvements in wireless communication range and ultra-low power management for extended battery life.

Bytesnap Design implemented a solution involving extensive PCB layout, simulation, and prototyping. This included meticulous antenna tuning for a 200m range, innovative encapsulation methods for ATEX intrinsic safety, and power optimization. The result was the world's first 8-channel ultrasonic IoT device certified for ATEX Zone 0, achieving a 5+ year battery life. This industry-leading product from Inductosense won IoT Product of the Year at the ELEKTRA Awards, enabling automated, remote data collection in hazardous locations and providing major safety and efficiency benefits.
