Somerset County Council faced the challenge of modernizing its IT estate to support remote work and improve services without compromising its sustainability goals. Bytes implemented a tailored solution, using Microsoft Windows Autopilot to pre-configure and deliver 1,880 devices directly to staff, saving over 50,000 miles of travel. The vendor refurbished and repurposed thousands of legacy laptops, donating them to local communities to fight digital poverty. This resulted in a massive reduction of e-waste and carbon emissions, saving an estimated 1,000,000kg of CO2. Bytes Technology's approach also equipped council staff with new skills, fostering a more efficient and flexible modern workplace.
