Case Study: Mott MacDonald achieves global software control and faster deployments with Bytes Software Asset Management

A Bytes Technology Case Study

Preview of the Mott MacDonald Case Study

Building on an existing Altiris 6.5 investment to provide a robust Software Asset Managment solution that met the demands of a global engineering company

Bytes Technology worked with Mott MacDonald, a global engineering and management consultancy with 14,000 employees across 140 countries, to address poor visibility and control over its rapidly changing software estate. The company’s existing deployment and management processes were creating compliance risks, inefficient software removal and upgrading, and problems with an Altiris 6.5 investment that was not delivering the required level of control.

Bytes Technology carried out an Envisioning Workshop, full software and hardware audit, and a review of policies and procedures before reconfiguring Mott MacDonald’s Altiris 6.5 environment into a robust Software Asset Management solution, supported by Symantec Service Desk 7 and a managed service. The results included faster PC start-up times for over 14,000 staff, improved patch management and security, software deployment in hours instead of days, better compliance and inventories, and enough efficiency gains to save an estimated 750 staff hours per year while enabling the reuse of under-utilised software licences.
