How Metz Culinary Uses Byte’s Smart Fridges to Unlock New Revenue Opportunities

Metz Culinary Management, a foodservice provider serving businesses, hospitals, universities, airports, and other facilities, was looking for a way to give clients fresher food options for third-shift workers and other hard-to-reach employees without adding labor costs. Working with Byte Technology, they needed a flexible, secure, and cost-effective unattended retail option that could support fresh food sales after cafeterias closed.

Byte Technology provided Smart Fridges using RFID-based cashierless checkout, allowing Metz Culinary to stock fresh, customized products and manage pricing and expiration more easily. The first fridge, placed at Lebanon Valley College, quickly proved successful by creating a small-footprint retail outlet that could be stocked in the morning and left to run unattended; Metz later added four more fridges and gained higher retail sales, happier clients, and more revenue through flex card compatibility.
