How Can Fresh Food Vending Revolutionize Medical Campus Healthy Food Dining

Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) wanted to make healthy food more accessible across its sprawling medical campus, but dozens of member institutions, exclusive foodservice contracts, and non-compete agreements made it difficult for local providers to offer fresh options to healthcare workers, staff, and visitors. BNMC turned to Byte and its fresh food vending fridges as a way to bring convenient, healthy food onto campus without needing a large retail footprint.

Byte implemented a pilot fresh food fridge in BNMC’s Innovation Center, later expanding to four additional locations across campus. The fridges made it easy to stock prepared foods, snacks, juices, and drinks through a local operator, and the result was more frequent use, healthier habits, and a space that helped bring people back into the office. BNMC said the Byte fridges became a habit for users and supported broader goals to scale fresh food access across the campus and beyond.
