How Byte Helped Go Buddha Launch Their “Food ATM” Concept To Kill Food Deserts

Go Buddha, a Cleveland-based restaurant and online meal delivery service, wanted to expand into more neighborhoods without taking on the high cost of traditional leases. Founder Joshua Ingraham needed a way to bring fresh, healthy food into local food deserts while avoiding the overhead of opening additional restaurant locations, and Byte Technology’s smart fridge offered a promising alternative.

Byte Technology helped Go Buddha launch its “Food ATM” concept using a refrigerated Byte fridge that could sell meals 24/7 with minimal startup cost. The first unit opened in January 2021 and generated sales overnight and on Sundays when the restaurant was closed, paid for itself through the pandemic and winter, and attracted interest from other businesses looking to host the fridges. Go Buddha now sees a clear path to low-cost expansion in Cleveland and beyond.
