Ahrefs helped G2 Crowd identify that its traffic had stalled because it lacked a strong backlink acquisition strategy, while competitors were winning in search with far more linking domains. Using Ahrefs research, the team analyzed what content formats had already earned links and found that its older “Vanity Grid” content was unexpectedly backlink-friendly.
BuzzStream’s case study shows that G2 Crowd turned this insight into a larger campaign of data-rich, city- and country-based report pages, supported by design, PR, vendor outreach, and social promotion. The results were strong: the campaign generated over 350 new linking domains, helped G2 Crowd surpass one competitor in dofollow domains, and contributed to its biggest traffic month to date.
