How a Dairy Company Optimized Production Capacity by Adjusting Their Portfolio Mix in Asia

Dairy Company, a multinational food and beverage producer with a strong dairy portfolio in Asia, faced production capacity constraints while trying to balance low-end and high-end yogurt brands at the same time. To support their revenue growth management efforts, they worked with Buynomics to understand how changing their product mix could affect shelf space, sales, and factory capacity.

Buynomics modeled scenarios for delisting two or three low-end SKUs, with and without maintaining shelf space and with price adjustments on the remaining products. The analysis showed that removing three low-end SKUs could reduce units by 35% over four weeks while preserving shelf space, and the predicted impact closely matched reality: actual unit decline was 29%, just 600 bps different from Buynomics’ forecast.
