City of Caribou - Customer Case Study

The City of Caribou, Maine, faced a significant challenge in recruiting jobs to its downtown area after the closure of a major Air Force base. The city was presented with an opportunity when a donated downtown building, ideal for a tech or call center business, needed a tenant. Their goal was to convince Sitel Operating Corporation to choose this location for a new facility. The city partnered with vendor Buxton and utilized its SCOUT analytics platform to address this economic development challenge.

Buxton's solution involved providing crucial data through custom drive-time reports that detailed the available workforce within specific commuting distances of the downtown site. This data was instrumental in demonstrating the site's viability to Sitel. As a direct result of using Buxton's analytics, Sitel purchased the building and brought 300 new jobs to downtown Caribou, with plans for 200 more. This influx of jobs provided a major economic boost and increased traffic for other local businesses.
