How Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf enables property access with ButterflyMX

Mill Neck Manor's Deaf Education Center, a Long Island school serving Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faced accessibility challenges with an aging, audio-only intercom that left many students and staff unable to use property access controls. Superintendent Dr. Bradley Porche selected ButterflyMX and its Video Intercom and Front Desk Station to provide video-based, two-way calling that enables American Sign Language communication and visual identification.

ButterflyMX installed the Video Intercom and Front Desk Station in May 2024, delivering a seamless setup and a user-friendly interface that lets campus members visually verify visitors and communicate before granting access. The ButterflyMX solution has significantly improved property access and security, increased independence for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff, and aligned the school’s access control with its inclusive, universal-design goals.
