Toowoomba Regional Council engaged Butterfly to put the region “on the digital map” and communicate a sense of place while making municipal content easy to find and manage. The council wanted a modern, responsive site built on Joomla that honoured local heritage, surfaced news and events up front, and worked well across devices.

Butterfly delivered a multi‑award‑winning, vertically and horizontally responsive Joomla site with a bold design, a persistent mega‑menu, and custom functionality including a park locator (custom Joomla extension using Google Maps API and FOF customisations) and a prioritized site/external search powered by Sphinx on MySQL. Butterfly also trained Toowoomba’s in‑house team for independent management; the result was faster, more relevant search, wide user praise and positive feedback, and formal recognition through awards.
