Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary cuts cloud backup costs from $1,400 to $100 per month with Burwood Group

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a higher education institution, faced steep overage charges and a lack of support for its Nutanix AHV environment from its previous cloud backup vendor following a ransomware attack. Seeking to reduce costs and improve disaster recovery, Director of IT Wayne Jenks partnered with vendor Burwood Group to find a new solution involving Google Cloud Platform and HYCU software.

Burwood Group helped implement HYCU to back up the seminary's entire Nutanix environment to Google Cloud. The solution provided significant cost savings, reducing cloud backup costs from approximately $1,400 per month for 6TB to about $100 per month for 10TB. The institution also gained expanded backup capabilities, simplified management, and greater flexibility for its data protection strategy.
