Preview of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Case Study

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab opens 1.2 million-square-foot facility with Burwood Group

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, a leading physical medicine and rehabilitation research hospital, faced the challenge of developing a sophisticated and secure IT infrastructure for its new state-of-the-art facility. The project required an enterprise-grade architecture to be ready on opening day to support thousands of connected medical and patient devices. They enlisted Burwood Group to architect and implement this highly available, high-performance infrastructure while the building was still under construction, all without interrupting patient care.

Burwood Group implemented a highly available and secure data center and wireless network. The solution included a resilient network architecture, VMware for microsegmentation, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and the Cisco Identity Services Engine for device security. The result was a successful opening day for the new facility, where caregivers were able to immediately provide cutting-edge, technology-enabled care on a secure platform. Burwood's planning, implementation, and comprehensive training ensured seamless operations from day one.
