How Bink built a fault-tolerant app stack on a dynamic foundation

Bink, a UK-based fintech company, set out to reimagine loyalty programs with an app that links payment cards to rewards. As its platform grew, the team needed a way to keep a fast-moving, greenfield Kubernetes-based architecture reliable and secure despite unstable cloud networking and increasing scale.

Using Buoyant’s Linkerd service mesh, Bink added connection, retry, and observability capabilities at the network layer without changing application code. The result was a more fault-tolerant stack with fewer issues from transient network problems, faster root cause analysis, and the confidence to support millions of transactions per day across six Kubernetes clusters, while meeting latency- and success-rate-based SLAs.
