Case Study: City of Stockholm achieves safer mega-project coordination with BuildSafe

A BuildSafe Case Study

Preview of the City of Stockholm Case Study

Health and Safety in Focus at Stockholm City's Mega Project

The City of Stockholm is leading Stockholm’s Future Sewage Treatment, a massive upgrade of the city’s largest sewage plant that includes a new tunnel, major excavation work, and a growing multi-contractor workforce. To manage health and safety across this complex, long-term project, the city needed a way to engage the entire supply chain, improve risk reporting, and maintain consistent safety leadership on site.

BuildSafe was implemented for reporting observations, incidents, accidents, and inspections, giving all contractors a shared digital platform tied to action management. According to the City of Stockholm, BuildSafe helped increase reporting and commitment across the supply chain, provide real-time risk visibility, and support measurable contractor evaluations through metrics such as deviation lead times, subcontractor involvement, and process compliance. The result was a more collaborative safety culture and a fairer, more data-driven way to manage health and safety performance.
