A BuildMaster Case Study

Reinventing processes with BuildMaster, finding critical solution in emerging SharePoint BuildMaster usage

The University of Nebraska - Lincoln’s University Housing IT team, which supports roughly 6,000 students and 1,100 employees, faced a challenge after a vendor change exposed sub‑optimal, manual build and deployment practices. Seeking a full DevOps suite to automate releases, planning and prevent manual copying of code between environments, the team evaluated tools like Jenkins and TeamCity and selected BuildMaster for its structured release workflows and integrated release-management capabilities.

BuildMaster was implemented to automate builds, run PowerShell scripts and manage deployments — notably enabling automated deployment of SharePoint web‑parts by copying artifacts to the SharePoint server and triggering scripted installs. The result was many saved work hours, reduced risk and errors from manual processes, and greater confidence to make frequent changes; today up to 90% of the department’s internal development is delivered via SharePoint with deployments managed through BuildMaster, and adoption of the BuildMaster+SharePoint approach has continued to grow.
