Highwoods Properties is a publicly traded REIT based in Raleigh that owns and manages 175 office properties (26.8M sq. ft.) across the Southeast. They faced inefficiencies with a limited work-order system that was hard for tenants to use, lacked inspections, visitor management and mass-communication capabilities, and offered no easy way to track customer service metrics or automate building processes.

Highwoods piloted and then rolled out Building Engines’ mobile-enabled platform for inspections, preventive maintenance, work orders and a tenant portal. The platform centralized and automated workflows, enabled mass notifications, and provided accountability and service metrics—resulting in faster response times, 95% of work orders submitted online, streamlined preventive maintenance across all properties, and better tenant communications (including COVID-19 return-to-work planning).
