A Building Engines Case Study
Nome Capital Partners acquired a newly renovated 175,000-square-foot Class A office building in Cerritos, California, and needed to cut energy costs while improving NOI in a highly leased asset. The complex HVAC system was running inefficiently, and a key tenant was concerned about maintaining comfortable temperatures during high solar load periods. Nome turned to Building Engines’ Hank AI platform to help optimize building performance.
Building Engines implemented predictive, machine-learning-based controls that reprogrammed the HVAC system in just two weeks, allowing it to make proactive micro-adjustments and pre-cool spaces before solar heat impacted them. The results included 45% HVAC energy savings, 20% total energy savings, 60% less deviation from tenant setpoint, a 2x increase in fresh airflow, and an estimated 3–5 year increase in equipment life.
