The Amputee Walking School - Customer Case Study

The Amputee Walking School, founded by Paralympic gold medalist Todd Schaffhauser, needed a better way to help physical therapists retain training and apply it with amputee patients in real-world settings. The team wanted a mobile solution that therapists and patients could access easily on their phones, with content that stayed fresh between training sessions.

Buildfire provided the mobile app platform the school used to create a customizable iOS, Android, and PWA app. Todd built courses, schedules, a walking challenge, and resource links directly in the app, which improved day-to-day usability for therapists and patients. The app became a highly valued treatment tool, helped one user increase from 463 steps to 2.4 million steps in a year, and continues to support therapists, amputees, and families while the organization plans new community features.
