How this Minnesota builder is making green building affordable

GreenHalo Builds, a Minnesota sustainable-home builder, needed a way to make Net-Zero-ready, eco-friendly custom homes affordable while still protecting margins and managing growing demand. After moving from traditional custom homes into its GreenHalo division, the team turned to Buildertrend and its construction management software, especially the Estimates and Bids tools, to better forecast costs and compare them against target price points.

With Buildertrend, GreenHalo streamlined construction estimates, bid requests, daily logs, lien waivers, and client communication through the Customer Portal, helping the team stay organized in the office and in the field. The results included selling out a 15-lot ecovillage before breaking ground, expanding into new markets, and supporting 42 builds in progress with a 15-person team, while proving that a 2,166-square-foot home could cost only $300 to heat and cool for a full year.
