Rieger Homes, a family-run builder of high-end, semi-custom homes in New York’s Hudson Valley, had relied on BuildSoft for 11 years but found the software increasingly antiquated and inflexible. The company needed a modern accounting system that would let field operations drive accounting — including electronic vendor pricing, wireless scheduling, electronic purchase orders and better integration with subs — and faced the additional challenge of migrating 11 years of critical accounting data with minimal disruption.

Rieger selected Sage Timberline Office and BuilderMT’s process-based Workflow Management Suite; BuilderMT’s prewritten conversion paths and consultants extracted and migrated all 11 years of job cost, general ledger and payroll data, allowing Rieger to run payroll on Sage Timberline by January 2nd. The move delivered seamless accounting continuity, about 20 hours of staff training, a smooth conversion without consultants onsite, and the ability to deploy BuilderMT’s trade portal, wireless scheduling and improved reporting to integrate field staff, subs and vendors into a process-driven back office.
