The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) sought to improve the efficiency of its energy and water auditing process, which traditionally relied on handwritten notes, paper plans, and photographs that were time-consuming to organize and analyze. NREL needed a standardized, digital method to avoid redundant data collection during future facility surveys.
