Motorola - Customer Case Study

Motorola Mobility, one of the world’s largest consumer electronics and telecommunications companies, needed a more efficient way to connect with security researchers and uncover critical vulnerabilities faster. Its small security team had been spending too much time on triage, validation, coordination, reporting, and bounty logistics, so Motorola turned to Bugcrowd and launched a private bug bounty program in 2015, followed by a vulnerability disclosure program in 2018.

Bugcrowd implemented a structured crowdsourced security program that gave Motorola access to an elite community of researchers without overloading internal resources. The results were significant: submissions doubled after the vulnerability disclosure program launched, triage and validation time did not increase, and Motorola reported that Bugcrowd helped save nearly $60 million by helping avoid major data breaches.
