Ben Campbell, a marketer and self-taught coder, faced clunky pre-publish workflows for social media, including drafting, reformatting content across platforms, and managing client approvals. He initially built a personal toolkit but sought deeper integration to streamline these processes for himself and others, turning to Buffer's newly opened API.

Using Buffer's API, Campbell transformed his toolkit into PostIQ, a companion app that directly connects to Buffer for seamless drafting, thread splitting, and scheduling. This later led to a second product, Receipts, for no-login client approvals. The solution allowed users to manage pre-publish workflows efficiently, with scheduled posts appearing in Buffer almost instantly. Buffer's API enabled the creation of this complementary ecosystem, attracting early users from the Buffer community.
