DLAN Helps Ventura County Office of Emergency Services Simplify Public Notifications

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office, specifically its Office of Emergency Services, sought to simplify its public notification process and ensure the public had access to the most current emergency information. They partnered with vendor Buffalo Computer Graphics and implemented its DisasterLAN (DLAN) web-based emergency management system to address this challenge.

Buffalo Computer Graphics configured DLAN's Ticket Manager to automatically push specific incident data, such as road closures and shelter locations, to the county's public-facing ESRI ArcGIS Online map. This solution eliminated duplicate data entry, saved responder time, and accelerated the release of critical information to the public. The system's effectiveness was demonstrated during the 2018 Woolsey Fire, successfully keeping citizens informed and helping to save lives and property.
