The Bulgarian government required an efficient solution to collect and manage personal information from tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees, needing to avoid a humanitarian crisis during a major influx. With time as a critical constraint, they sought a secure, open-source, and self-hosted low-code platform, ultimately selecting Budibase to build a custom application.

Deploying Budibase via docker-compose, the development team quickly built a full-stack, multi-step questionnaire application integrated with an internal MySQL database. The Budibase platform easily handled large spikes in submissions driven by media campaigns, processing thousands of entries and proving to be a mission-critical tool for the refugee response. The success of the project has led to plans for using Budibase for future government applications.
