Swaraj Engines Ltd. (SEL), an associate company of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in Mohali, India, wanted to strengthen its energy conservation practices across the plant. To address rising energy-use concerns and improve efficiency, the customer approached BSI for ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System certification.

BSI helped SEL implement an energy management system covering policy setting, cross-functional teams, detailed energy data recording, and replacement of older machines with energy-efficient equipment. The initiative delivered tangible savings of more than Rs. 60 lakhs in FY 2012–13, with total annual savings reported at Rs. 111.3 lakhs, along with improved workplace conditions such as better lighting, less fatigue, and reduced wastage.
