Case Study: Scottish Water improves asset management with BSI ISO 55001 certification

A BSI Case Study

Preview of the Scottish Water Case Study

Scottish Water Are Using Iso 55001 Certification to Manage Physical Assets Efficiently and Boost Customer Service Levels

Scottish Water, one of the UK’s largest water utilities, needed to demonstrate best practice in asset management while improving customer service, meeting water industry regulations, and delivering better value for customers. BSI supported the company’s move toward ISO 55001 certification for asset management, building on its existing ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and PAS 55 systems.

BSI helped Scottish Water transition from PAS 55 to ISO 55001 through gap analysis, Stage 1 and Stage 2 assessments, and ongoing guidance. The certification provided a framework for continual improvement, better asset management controls, stronger regulatory confidence, improved internal collaboration, and a more proactive approach to maintenance; while benefits were still being measured, Scottish Water expected gains in service consistency, customer confidence, and long-term business performance.
