Nigeria strengthens export skills with BSI, reaching 31 SMEs and 40% women-owned businesses

The customer, Nigeria, faced a significant economic challenge as the value of its main oil export was expected to decline sharply. The government needed to diversify the economy by making its small and medium enterprises (SMEs) more competitive and trusted in international markets, but a lack of capacity to meet technical standards and quality requirements was a major barrier. The vendor BSI was engaged to help address this.

BSI implemented a solution that included launching a National Quality Infrastructure Graduate Fellowship Program to develop future leaders and providing technical training for SME exporters on international standards. This strengthened Nigeria's quality infrastructure and equipped businesses with the knowledge to access global trade. The measurable impact included engaging 31 SMEs in training, with 40% of those reached being women-owned businesses, helping to stimulate growth in key sectors and create job opportunities.
