London Luton Airport boosts employee wellbeing 41% with BSI

London Luton Airport (LLA) sought to evolve its approach to employee psychological health and safety from a series of initiatives into a structured, proactive, and risk-based system. The challenge involved gaining manager buy-in, aligning support for all staff, and building organizational resilience amidst growth. To address this, LLA partnered with vendor BSI, utilizing the ISO 45003 standard.

Working with BSI, LLA implemented the ISO 45003 framework, which included comprehensive gap analyses, risk assessments, and line manager training. This solution, built upon their existing ISO 45001 management system, enabled a data-driven approach. The results were significant, including a 7% increase in overall wellbeing, a 41% reduction in mental health days lost, and an Employee Net Promoter Score that rose from +12 to +38, demonstrating the tangible impact of BSI's guidance.
