Indira Gandhi International Airport Prepares to Be Reslient by Implementing Business Continuity Management Systems

GMR, through Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), needed a stronger way to stay operational during emergencies at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where even a single downtime could disrupt flights, passengers, and the airport’s reputation. To address this, GMR worked with BSI to implement a Business Continuity Management System aligned to ISO 22301.

BSI supported DIAL in assessing risks, conducting business impact analysis, and defining recovery strategies for critical processes over an eight-month implementation journey. The result was the world’s first ISO 22301:2012 certification for an airport, along with improved resilience, better employee awareness, stronger incident response readiness, and more confidence among management, customers, and stakeholders.
