Yamato Holdings, Japan’s largest door-to-door delivery company, faced rising risk and inconsistency in the fast-growing refrigerated parcel delivery market as more consumers bought temperature-sensitive goods online. To build trust, protect consumers, and support global growth, Yamato partnered with BSI to create a fast-track industry standard for refrigerated delivery services.

BSI led the development of PAS 1018, an internationally informed Publicly Available Specification covering monitoring, transport, resources, operations, and staff training for indirect temperature-controlled delivery. The standard helped improve quality and consistency across the sector, strengthened Yamato’s market influence and overseas expansion, and led to PAS 1018 certification for Yamato as one of the first providers, giving customers a clear badge of quality.
