Telefónica UK Limited (O2), a leading UK communications provider with over 23 million customers and a critical role in national infrastructure, needed to safeguard staff welfare and operations, recover faster from disruptions, and reassure customers and stakeholders of its resilience. Working with BSI, it sought support in transitioning its business continuity management system to ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management.
BSI carried out a gap analysis and helped Telefónica UK align its existing continuity processes with ISO 22301, including stronger coverage of staff welfare, interested parties, legal and regulatory requirements, risk management, and management reviews. The transition was completed in three months, improved the company’s resilience framework, reduced the need for third-party audits, and helped minimize service disruption impact while protecting revenue and strengthening customer confidence.
