British Sugar, one of the world's largest sugar processors, needed a long-term strategy to objectively demonstrate its sustainability progress and reduce its environmental impact to stakeholders. BSI verified British Sugar's reduction in CO2 emissions under the UK Emissions Trading Systems (ETS), helping them implement clear reporting processes. This allowed British Sugar to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, build trusted customer relationships, and protect itself from non-compliance risks. A key measurable result was the generation of approximately 5MW of green energy for the national grid from an invested anaerobic digestion plant.
