Yahoo! JAPAN Enables LBaaS in Its OpenStack Private Cloud with Brocade ADX

Yahoo! JAPAN built an OpenStack-based private cloud to standardize data-center administration and streamline IT operations, but needed a way to automate and scale network services—especially load balancing—while keeping strong administrative control and abstracting operational complexity from developers and tenants.

Using the OpenStack LBaaS framework and Horizon dashboard, Yahoo! JAPAN deployed the OpenStack-enabled Brocade ADX plugin and ADX driver (including Layer 3 Direct Server Return). The integrated solution automated device selection and management, let admins and tenants provision load balancers via the dashboard, and cut provisioning time from days to minutes—speeding service rollout, improving scalability, and reducing application latency.
