United Prepares for HDTV and Video on Demand Needs with Brocade Ethernet Fabrics

United, a Netherlands-based division of Euro Media Group that handles over 45% of Dutch TV productions and supports international broadcasters, needed to replace an aging, unsecured network that couldn’t reliably handle massive HD video files (generating ~16 TB/day) or support consolidation into a new data center. The company required a scalable, high-performance 10 GbE fabric with redundancy, security, and better VM support to meet HDTV and video-on-demand demands.

United deployed a Brocade VCS Ethernet fabric and a suite of Brocade switches, routers, CNAs, application delivery and wireless solutions (including VDX 6720, MLXe, NetIron CER, FCX/FastIron, ServerIron ADX, Network Advisor and mobility APs). The new infrastructure delivered breakthrough 10 GbE performance and scalability, removed single points of failure, simplified operations and VM management, improved network visibility and reliability, and ensured consistently high-quality broadcast services.
