The Network Just Made A World Of Difference

Evangeline Parish School District, a rural Louisiana system serving about 6,000 students in 12 schools, faced a severely outdated network and cabling infrastructure that caused frequent speed, connectivity and latency problems and threatened its ability to support upcoming computer-based Common Core testing. Aging wireless gear using PoE injectors created heat and reliability issues, and a four-person IT team plus reduced E‑Rate funding made upgrades and ongoing troubleshooting costly and slow.

Working with Brocade and local partner DETEL, the district rewired schools with Cat6 and fiber, deployed Brocade VDX 6740, ICX 6610 and ICX 6450 switches, Aruba wireless, and Brocade Network Advisor, and used Brocade Capital Solutions to finance the project. The new, centralized 10 Gbps network eliminated latency and downtime, delivered 1 Gbps to desktops, reduced travel and support time, enabled VDI and high-quality distance learning, lowered equipment costs through consolidation, and created a scalable, future-ready platform.
