MoldRite Plastics, a manufacturer of plastic containers, was struggling with switch saturation and poor network performance while integrating users and applications from recent acquisitions. With many clients capable of Gigabit Ethernet and plans for new applications (including SAN growth, PoE and eventual 10 GbE), the IT team needed a higher‑performance, manageable network but faced a very limited upgrade budget.
They replaced aging Fast Ethernet with Brocade ICX Gigabit Ethernet switches, using stackable SFP links to simplify management and reduce uplinks. The upgrade eliminated hanging transfers, cut link utilization and device CPU load, sped up SAN transfers, reduced troubleshooting time, and provided a low‑cost path to PoE and easy migration to 10 GbE—delivering better uptime and a clear return on investment.
