Case Study: NOVATEL achieves agile, scalable, high‑performance voice services with Brocade

A Brocade Case Study

New IP Approach Accelerates Revenue Opportunities

NovaTel Networks, a wholesale “big voice” provider for election campaigns, emergency services, carriers and large call centers, faced growing strain as VoIP and SIP traffic outpaced its legacy switch‑to‑router data center. Heavy call‑setup processing, automatic dialers and routing through the core created latency, packet loss and a chokepoint that limited service agility and growth—so NovaTel needed a new IP architecture that could deliver high‑density, low‑latency voice services without a huge capital outlay.

NovaTel deployed a Brocade “New IP” fabric—MLX core routers, VDX fabric switches, Vyatta vRouters, ADX application delivery and ICX edge switches—moving services into a virtualized, automated cloud fabric with inline security and self‑provisioning. The result: a single cloud delivery model with ten‑fold peering capacity, faster service rollout (backend tasks now take less than half the time), roughly 50% lower IT overhead, and improved competitiveness and new customer wins.
