Huntington Beach Schools Achieve New Network Standards with Brocade

Huntington Beach Union High School District, which serves more than 16,000 students across six high schools, faced an aging wired network that was faltering under the demands of Smarter Balanced testing, district-wide Chromebook deployment and more than 10,000 daily wireless devices. The legacy infrastructure suffered from oversubscription, slow speeds, latency and packet loss, prompting the district to seek a scalable, long‑lasting solution that could meet current digital learning and testing requirements.

The district replaced its legacy Cisco gear with Brocade ICX 7750, ICX 6610 and ICX 6450 switches and adopted Brocade Network Advisor for management. The upgrade delivered gigabit speeds to desktops, 10 GbE aggregation, reliable support for VoIP and large-scale wireless use, simpler network administration for the whole IT team, and a robust, cost‑effective, future‑ready network platform that supports growth and emerging technologies like SDN and cloud services.
