A Brocade Case Study
San Leandro Unified School District, which serves roughly 8,800 K–12 students (plus 5,000 adult learners) across multiple campuses, faced an aging network built on 10/100 switches and low-speed fiber, unreliable Wi‑Fi, and limited capacity for 1:1 learning and concurrent devices. With one-time funding and a mandate to make technology “invisible” in the classroom, the district needed a highly scalable, low‑cost infrastructure that would last a decade without disrupting teaching and learning.
The district deployed Brocade ICX 7450 switches in IDFs, Brocade ICX 7750 switches in MDFs and Brocade Network Advisor for management, providing 40 GbE uplinks today with plug‑and‑play migration to 100 GbE. The first campus cut over with zero disruption and noticeably faster, more stable performance; the new design delivers district‑wide scalability, strong investment protection, and a foundation to support modern curriculum and large numbers of devices for years to come.
