FIBI Profits from Brocade SAN Investment

First International Bank Israel (FIBI), one of the country’s largest banks with 170 branches and over 100 billion NIS in assets, faced growing pressures from stricter regulation, the rise of mobile and online services, and a drive toward virtualization. As new premium services strained its Storage Area Network (SAN), the bank set three objectives: boost performance and scalability, consolidate open and mainframe SANs into a virtual fabric, and move to greener, more power‑efficient infrastructure.

FIBI replaced aging gear with Brocade solutions (DCX backbones, Brocade 5100 switches) and deployed Brocade Network Advisor across three data centers and a disaster‑recovery site via Brocade’s OEM partner HDS. The upgrade delivered a 50% increase in SAN and application performance with lower latency, consolidated 70+ servers using NPIV and ISL trunking across 1,300+ ports, halved power consumption, reduced operational costs and complexity, and improved uptime and proactive management through centralized monitoring and alerts.
