A Brocade Case Study
The City of Irvine needed to modernize the network that supports its 911 and police command center after its aging, unreliable infrastructure lacked 10 Gigabit capability and was costly to maintain. With growing, bandwidth-intensive video and real-time data requirements, the city sought a scalable, cost-effective solution that would improve performance and operational readiness without disrupting existing services.
Irvine deployed Brocade ICX 7750 switches in the core, ICX 6610 at the access layer and VDX switches to connect data centers and provide redundancy. The new distributed architecture delivered 10 GbE performance, a much smaller rack footprint, lower power and support costs, and faster, more reliable voice/video/data for mission-critical public safety systems—resulting in higher ROI, planned upgradability, and responsive vendor support.
