Brocade Gives HealthMEDX a Clean Bill of Network Health

HealthMEDX, a Missouri-based provider of software for long-term care, home health, and rehabilitation organizations, needed to accelerate development and delivery of advanced healthcare applications while minimizing networking operations and capital expenses. Faced with bandwidth limits, a legacy Cisco environment, and rising requirements for VoIP, WLAN, and security compliance (HIPAA/SAS 70), the company sought a more efficient, higher-throughput IP infrastructure.

HealthMEDX deployed Brocade FCX switches at the core, FastIron WS switches for PoE/VoIP at the edge, and Brocade Mobility Access Points and Controllers for wireless. The migration moved all IP traffic to Brocade in under six hours with no downtime, achieved ROI in 14 months, tightened wireless security, lowered total cost of ownership, and cut the time to build and deploy customer software packages from about six hours to roughly two—giving the company faster delivery and greater operational flexibility.
