akquinet AG is a Hamburg-based IT services provider with about 500 employees delivering consulting, implementation and data center services—especially for SAP, Java and Microsoft environments. Rapid growth pushed its Hamburg data center network to capacity, exposing limitations of the legacy Spanning Tree–based design and creating a need for a future-proof, highly available, redundant fabric that could link multiple data centers without single points of failure or bandwidth bottlenecks.

akquinet deployed a Brocade VDX fabric—16 VDX 6710 and 2 VDX 6720 switches—using logical-cluster mode and vLAG to replace Spanning Tree and intermesh switches as a single logical system (integrating with Cisco Nexus at core).
