Case Study: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) achieves SDN-ready, multitenant data center and seamless application migration with Brocade

A Brocade Case Study

Preview of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Case Study

A Partner with a Path to a Software-Driven Future

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was engaged by a major FTSE-listed life and pensions firm to build a new data center and migrate more than 8,000 users and enterprise applications from a complex, aging network of 1,100+ heterogeneous devices. The existing infrastructure had fragmented VTP domains, overlapping Layer 2 VLAN IDs and IP conflicts, point-to-point WANs, and strict SLAs, so the new design had to enable multitenancy, be SDN-ready, and support a migration with no IP address changes while delivering high availability.

TCS implemented a Brocade-based, SDN-ready architecture—redundant MLX core routers (VRF/OpenFlow), VDX switches with VCS fabric, ICX aggregation, CER/TurboIron edge routing, ADX application delivery and Brocade Network Advisor management—to resolve VLAN/IP overlap, consolidate layers, and preserve addressing. The migration completed smoothly with no IP changes, improving network utilization and application availability, delivering multitenancy and SDN-readiness, and achieving consistent high reliability.
