Downtown Austin Alliance, a long-time steward of downtown Austin, needed up-to-date data after COVID-19 dramatically changed downtown activity. To understand whether employees were physically returning to offices and how foot traffic had shifted, the Downtown Austin Alliance turned to Brivo and its anonymized, real-time access and occupancy data to analyze building and workplace usage across the district.

Brivo supplied anonymized access-point and occupancy tracking across hundreds of buildings, enabling the Downtown Austin Alliance to quantify that downtown experienced a sharper decline in on-site workers than surrounding zip codes and to demonstrate a large percentage of workers can work remotely. Using Brivo data, the Alliance adjusted cleaning and ambassador deployments, advocated for targeted city programs and resources, and used the measured workforce patterns to guide downtown recovery planning.
