Helping Tellabs Gain Global Spend Visibility for their Direct and Indirect Procurement

Tellabs, a telecom networking company whose products carry over a third of the world’s wireless calls, needed better visibility into forecasted spend, supplier and commodity management, and compliance tracking. The company also faced heavy dependence on contract manufacturers, making cost control, quality, and continuity critical challenges. Bristlecone was brought in to help with global spend visibility for direct and indirect procurement.

Bristlecone deployed SPM 2.0 with a rapidly implemented dashboard and custom enhancements, including spend forecast aggregation, RFQ tracking, cost workbook agreement, and purchase order analysis. The solution delivered a consolidated view of global spend, improved tracking of spend and contract utilization, and helped Tellabs enforce volume price compliance. Bristlecone also provided ongoing enrichment support, and the project achieved a 50% improvement in sourcing cycle time.
