Aligning JMC’s Supply Chain Strategy with their Corporate Objectives

JMC Steel Group, a large North American tubular steel manufacturer, needed a more responsive and integrated supply chain to reduce long lead times, inventory buffers, budget overruns, and demand-supply imbalances. JMC turned to Bristlecone for help identifying supply chain weaknesses and aligning the right SAP capabilities to improve efficiency, customer service, and overall business performance.

Bristlecone redesigned JMC’s supply chain processes and implemented SAP SCM 7.0, SAP APO Demand Planning, Supply Network Planning, Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling, GATP, BI, ECC, and Axiom using its assess-implement-manage delivery model. The result was improved forecasting, planning, inventory visibility, and customer commitment, with specific inventory reduction targets achieved and inventory costs reduced by $26M.
